About Studio Pansa
Studio Pansa was founded in 2018 and has developed into a flourishing Ceramics Makerspace with a beautiful community in Amsterdam. Our main location at the KNSM-Laan in Amsterdam hosts more than 100 monthly members and facilitates space for classes and workshops in ceramics. Our 2nd location close to Amstel station opened up in the end of 2022 and was set up with the focus to create more space for classes and workshops. We now open up the upper floor of this building to make space for our Residency program.

Open Call

Studio Pansa takes a multidisciplinary approach in residencies and workshops, accepting artists and creatives from varied disciplines. The main focus of Studio Pansa is of course Ceramics, but artists with other disciplines are also welcome to apply. The artist is free to use the space however they like it. At the end of the residency period we offer our gallery space at Studio Pansa KNSM to display work and organise an exhibition.

What do we offer
For the period of the agreed residency, we offer a beautiful light studio space located in an industrial area close to Amstel station. The space that you can fully use for yourself is on the first floor above the Pansa Amstel class space. You can see the exact details at the top of this document.
We have daily classes running in the downstairs studio space. During these classes you are not able to make use of the wheels and hand building tables. But when there is no class you can use it within reasonable times. There are two kilns downstairs to fire ceramics. We fire class work during the week and can plan for a firing when you have ceramic work finished. We charge firing separately. If necessary we can install a wheel in the upstairs space.

What do we expect from you?
We want you to enjoy the space and freedom to work on your project(s). We do have a small list of things to take into account:

  • We want to keep our studio safe and clean. So general safety and regulations and cleaning standards will be discussed with you before using the studio space.

  • We want you to be respectful to our students, neighbours and surroundings.

Note: We do not accept practices that can damage the space or create noise disturbance.

  • During your stay at the artist residency we ask you to think about, and work towards an exhibition in our gallery space at Studio Pansa KNSM.

  • We would like to ask you to stay engaged on social media and document your process. We would like to ask you to tag Studio Pansa in your posts and stories.

  • We want to document and present the artists in our residency programs and post about activities related to this on our socials and on our website.

Opening Studio Pansa Amstel

After a successful crowdfunding campaign and the granting of a cultural loan, Studio Pansa got off to a flying start four years ago. This year Studio Pansa and the Pansa community are growing!
In response to the increasing demand for ceramic classes and workplaces, Studio Pansa has opened a second location on the Wenckebachweg in Amsterdam aptly named: 'Studio Pansa Amstel'
At this location we have transformed a warehouse building into a beautiful and high-quality ceramics studio worthy of the name Studio Pansa. The new studio will focus on courses and (private) workshops ranging in level from beginner to advanced.

Official opening on 3 December

On 3 December 2022 we welcomed you to the opening of Studio Pansa Amstel. We combined this opening with an intimate Pansa Ceramics Winter Market. At the market a selection of Pansa's community artists displayed and sold their amazing pieces.

Artist in Residence @ Studio Pansa Amstel

At our new location we invite guest artists from around the globe to come and teach workshops. These master classes are available to book for anyone interested in expanding their skills and knowledge in ceramics.

In the opening week of Studio Pansa Amstel we had a master class by befriended artist and teacher Will Martin.
